Netflix has announced that 57-year-old former world heavyweight champion boxer Mike Tyson will come out of retirement to fight Jake Paul, on the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The entertainment powerhouse, Netflix, announced this Thursday that they are going to exclusively stream their first-ever combat sports event on July twentieth, with the ‘boxing mega-event’ between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.
The fight will happen in Arlington Texas on the AT&T Stadium home of NFL giants, Dallas Cowboys, with the stadium holding a capability of 80,000 seats.
This won’t be the primary time the 2 have shared an event, as Jake Paul’s second boxing fight, against Nate Robinson, got here on the undercard of Tyson’s final fight, against Roy Jones Jr, in November 2020.
Within the press release from Netflix Tyson vowed to ‘finish’ Jake Paul’s boxing profession, despite playing an enormous role within the early proceedings of his profession.
“I’m very much looking forward to moving into the ring with Jake on the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. He’s grown significantly as a boxer through the years, so it can be a number of fun to see what the desire and ambition of a ‘kid’ can do with the experience of a GOAT.
“It’s a full circle moment that can be thrilling to observe; as I began him on his boxing journey on the undercard of my fight with Roy Jones, now I plan to complete him.” Tyson added.
Jake Paul comments on surprising fight announcement
27-year-old, Paul, who fought and beat boxer, Ryan Bourland last weekend said that it’s his likelihood to prove himself once more, this time against ‘essentially the most dangerous boxer of all time’.
Tyson became the youngest ever fighter to develop into a heavyweight champion when he won it at 20-years-old, beating Trevor Berbick in 1986, and still hold the record to today.
“Whether you’re team Paul, team Tyson or a lifelong boxing fan or watching your first fight, you’re not going to wish to miss this event. I actually have the possibility to prove myself against the best heavyweight champion of the world, the baddest man on the planet and essentially the most dangerous boxer of all time. Time to place Iron Mike to sleep.” Paul commented.
The event will mark a partnership between Netflix and Most Precious Promotions, a promotion co-founded by Paul, as they appear to start their mission into ‘providing more creative control to fighters’.
