The Home Depot Inc. announced March 14 that it is going to open 4 recent distribution centers in the primary half of 2024 — three in america and one in Canada.
It is a “key component” of the retailer’s strategy to higher serve its pro customers, Home Depot said in an announcement.
“Pros need a partner with the suitable product, depth of product, achievement capabilities, sales support and management tools to assist them get their jobs done,” said Chip Devine, senior vice chairman of out of doors sales for The Home Depot. “During the last several years, we’ve got been investing to deliver a faster, more convenient, differentiated experience for our pros. Home Depot distribution centers
The brand new Home Depot distribution centers can be in Detroit, southern Los Angeles, San Antonio and Toronto. Home Depot said there’s less congestion in its stores from staged products in aisles — and more inventory readily available for in-store pro customers — when its distribution centers fulfill job-site deliveries.
“The brand new distribution centers will stock large, bulky merchandise like lumber, insulation, roofing shingles and more,” Home Depot said. “With a network of distribution centers stocking a wide range of product types, pros can order job lot quantities of the products they need to finish their entire projects, delivered on to their job sites. The brand new distribution centers are expected to open in the primary half of the yr.”
Home Depot said it’s constructing out its comprehensive pro offerings and capabilities. They include:
- Digital tools and personalized experiences. This includes recent order management capabilities to higher manage complex pro orders.
- Trade credit. That is currently in pilot with a small number of professional customers.

Boosting sales to Home Depot pro customers
Home Depot acquired Construction Resources in December as a part of its plan to expand sales to its pro customers. Construction Resources is a distributor for design-oriented surfaces, appliances and architectural specialty products.
In Q4, Home Depot fulfilled nearly half of its online sales through its physical stores, said William Bastek, executive vice chairman of merchandising, in a Feb. 20 earnings call with investors. It opened 13 stores in its 2023 fiscal yr — eight within the U.S. and five in Mexico — bringing the variety of Home Depot stores to 2,335. Ann-Marie Campbell, senior executive vice chairman, said within the earnings call that Home Depot plans to open 80 recent stores in the following five years, including 12 recent stores in its fiscal 2024.
