Donnie & Dhali: Elliotte Friedman on the Donnie & Dhaliwal show on what a Filip Hronek contract extension could seem like for the Vancouver Canucks and if there could possibly be an issue.
** NHLRumors.com transcription
Dhaliwal: “Elliotte, let’s talk slightly bit about Vancouver. What are your thoughts on (Filip) Hronek and his latest contract, can they get it done? I actually have to ask you, I actually have to ask you. What are you hearing about Hronek and his latest deal?
Friedman: “To start with Rick, what did you’re thinking that of my impersonation of you? Was it good”
Dhaliwal: Yeah, it was not bad. Not bad. Not bad. Not bad.”
Friedman: “Okay, so, look, I feel there’s, I feel that there’s a deal to be made here. It’s probably like, I take a look at it this manner, for me, the sweet spot there maximum might be within the $7.5 (million) range.
Like if Hronek is dead set above that, I could see it being an actual problem. But I feel there’s, like I feel there’s a deal to be made there. Prefer to me, if you happen to can get the deal done with Pettersson then you definitely can get the deal done with nearly anybody, really, after every part they went through. So you recognize, I feel if Hronek is glad in Vancouver.
….
Like, I feel look, I feel if he desires to be a Canuck and so they want him to be a Canuck, there’s a deal to be made. And I actually have no reason to consider at this cut-off date, Rick or Don, that he doesn’t wish to be a Vancouver Canuck.
So I feel there’s a deal to be made. That’s primary. Number two, look, it is determined by what the number is. You recognize, I feel if we’re talking max, seven and a half (million), I feel there’s absolutely a deal to be made there.
I feel if we’re going higher there would, we could have an issue. But so far as I, as I sit here today with you on this Monday, March the 18th. I actually have no reason to consider that a deal here is inconceivable to do. I feel there’s a deal to be made, and until I actually have reasons to consider otherwise, I’m going to maintain moving in that direction.
