Former four-division world champion Adrien Broner has revealed that he’ll fight welterweight Blair Cobbs on May thirty first.

The 34-year-old Broner (35-4-1, 24 KOs) shall be fighting his most notable opponent in five years since his loss to Manny Pacquiao. Seeing how he looks against Cobb (16-1-1, 10 KOs) must be interesting.

Broner’s Long Absence and Uncertain Form

With the fight scheduled for May thirty first, Broner could have time to trim the fat he’s gained since his last contest against Bill Hutchinson last June.

Broner has not been an energetic fighter since 2015, and never surprisingly, his performances have been lackluster ever since.

Broner should win this on paper based on his experience and pedigree, but his lack of activity could possibly be his undoing. Adrien likely won’t retire if he loses this fight, nevertheless it’s going to proceed to be tough for him to select up wins unless he sticks to facing unknowns.

The 11-year pro Cobb hasn’t fought in two years since his win over former light welterweight champion Maurice Hooker in 2022. He looked good in that fight but faced an older fighter. In Cobbs’ previous bout before that, Alexis Rocha stopped him within the ninth round in March 2022.

“Blair The Flair, my sparring partner is way sharper than you. I’m about to f*** you up.  May thirty first,” said Adrien Broner on Instagram, revealing that he’s fighting welterweight Blair Cobbs next.

Cobbs: Underdog with Confidence

“It’s very much a reality, and it’s happening, May thirty first,” said Cobbs to Fighthype about his fight against Broner. “He’s attempting to warm up his trash-talking. I hope he can do higher than that,” said Cobbs, reacting to Broner saying that his sparring partner is “sharper” than him.

“I’ve never sparred him, nevertheless it’s going to be very interesting what happens on fight night. The top awaits. Blair The Flair is here. I’m training for the best possible of Adrien Broner. He’s not a simple task, and we’ve never seen Broner stopped until Blair The Flair.

“He can back up, but he’s not an excellent runner. It’s not like he can punch and move at the identical time. If I actually have to chase him, I’m winning the fight. I’m breaking him down. The moment he steps back, the fight is over. I’m used to being the underdog,” said Cobbs.
