Amanda Serrano gives emotional message to fans following fight cancellation

An exciting night of boxing ended disappointingly last night in San Juan, Puerto Rico because the hometown fighter and undisputed Women’s Featherweight Champion Amanda Serrano had to drag out of her Important Event bout with Nina Meinke following a watch injury. MVP Promotions, led by Jake Paul, and DAZN Boxing teamed as much as put together an event in Puerto Rico which might feature Jake Paul vs. Ryan Bourland within the Co-Important and Amanda Serrano returning to her home island for the primary time to defend her strap within the Important Event.

Nonetheless, just before the fight, medical staff deemed Serrano unable to fight because of an injury to her cornea. It was said by Serrano’s camp and the promotion that she had gotten her hair done the day prior and when she went to coach afterward fight day, a chemical entered her eye and damaged her cornea. She was ready and willing to still get within the ring, but clearly doctors were erring on the side of caution and called the bout.

“I’m so sorry, I got here to fight, I got here to placed on a show for you guys…I’ll return, that is where I’ll retire, [here] in Puerto Rico.” Serrano needed to hold back tears as she addressed the disenchanted crowd. Jake Paul, promotor for each Serrano and MVP, stood by her side and gave a proof to the fans as Serrano gathered her emotions.

Following the fight, Serrano took to social media to further address her sadness for not with the ability to deliver and she or he vows to make it as much as everyone who’s been supporting her.

Nine Meinke (18-3) was the challenger standing on the opposite side. She received her full fight purse from the promotion and still stays because the primary contender and the following fight for Serrano. Meinke also expressed her disappointment within the cancellation, saying “I’m absolutely gutted. All of us wanted this fight. I wanted this fight. Puerto Rico wanted this fight. I actually hope we are able to make this occur again.”

WBO decided that Amanda Serrano is not going to be stripped of her titles and that this remains to be the fight to make next. As for the champ, it’s unclear how quickly she’s going to get better from the injury, but it surely’s clear she was in top shape heading into this fight. At 46-2-1, she’s currently one in all boxing’s biggest stars and we’re eagerly waiting her return back to the ring.
