Chiefs’ Harrison Butker Just Went Full ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ On Us

Harrison Butker, kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, has the web in an absolute uproar over his May eleventh commencement speech at Benedictine College—and I’m outraged as well.

In the event you’re not aware of this viral—I mean VILE—clip, let’s get into it:

Principally, Butker tells this audience of graduates that ladies have been fed “diabolical lies,” and he questions how a lot of them, about to cross the stage, are excited about all of the promotions and titles they are going to achieve of their careers. He acknowledges that SOME of them will lead successful careers but guesses that most are enthusiastic about their marriages and the youngsters they’ll bring into this world.

I’m literally sitting here gagging as I type. That is SO Handmaid’s Tale. Can all of us please just start referring to him as The Commander now? His poor wife, Isabelle—I mean, Ofbutker (IYKYK).

I’ll be damned if I’m going to sit down here and let this video slide. How repeatedly do men should be told that ladies weren’t brought into existence to easily come out babies and make them sandwiches??

It’s obvious that’s what Butker believes. He literally said that his wife’s life “truly began when she began living her vocation as a wife.” Even when that’s your twisted belief, who says that to a bunch of people who just spent years earning degrees in order that they will enter the workforce? The workforce! The ladies sitting there didn’t just complete “The School of Betty Homemakers.”

Though I’m openly not a fan of faculty, I believe his words are completely inappropriate and a slap within the face to the young women in that audience. How dare he.

Probably the most disturbing a part of this whole video is that you simply don’t hear one person booing or objecting to this nonsense. Why did the varsity approve of this obvious personal rhetoric?

Oh wait…it’s a Catholic school. It’s beginning to make sense now. Identical to how “Ofbutker,” AKA Isabelle, converted to Catholicism, and she or he and The Commander have since centered their faith of their marriage.

In 2022, his wife Isabelle was a guest on The Unraveled Podcast. People magazine covered the story, saying, “She said she didn’t grow up very religious and was all the time more ‘independent,’ but in her senior yr of faculty, as Harrison grew more devout in his faith, she began to explore it more herself.”

From “more independent” to more “Handmaid.” Got it. That breaks my heart.

The article goes on to say, “After a spiritual experience during Mass, Isabelle said that she felt Catholicism was where she belonged and after she told Harrison, the 2 of them each broke down crying as he admitted he’d been praying each day for her to convert. The next Easter, she entered the church, and a month later, she and Harrison were engaged.” Wow.

Towards the tip of the video, Butker also makes negative comments about abortion and refers to being gay because the “deadly sins kind of pride.” I’m so done, and apparently, so is nearly all of the web.

Change.org currently has a petition running, calling on the Chiefs to dismiss Butker for making “several dehumanizing remarks during his commencement speech.” The petition states that his comments were “sexist, homophobic, anti-trans, anti-abortion, and racist.”

Women have to know and be taught that they’ve the precise to decide on. We’re all answerable for our own lives; there isn’t some predetermined path set for us. In the event you desire a family, great, have one. If you must be a ‘homemaker’—perfection, go try this—but provided that it’s truly YOUR selection. The mixtures to your lives are infinite and the very best part is, YOU determine what works for you. Not Harrison Butker. Not every other man. Not every other person. It’s all as much as you, Babes.

Speeches like Butker’s are dangerous. Such young minds are impressionable, and having someone in an “authoritative” position give a commencement speech and project their own beliefs is 100% toxic, for my part. What do you think? Be at liberty to spout off within the comments.
