X is rolling out a revamped version of its Communities feature, which lets users network around topics of interest, each with its own dedicated space and timeline. The corporate on Thursday announced a lot of changes to Communities, including improved discovery tools, recommendations, search, and sorting options, with other updates on the best way.
The broader goal is to attach more of X’s user base with with other people, where they’ll post about a selected topic and comment on posts from others.
Communities are a very important part of creating X, formerly Twitter, a more priceless company, by way of the information it has to supply. Already, Elon Musk’s X has a relationship together with his AI company xAI, and xAI’s Grok chatbot has access to real-time X data, or what was once often called tweets. But with X’s Communities, the corporate could construct something just as priceless because the Twitter firehose. In a perfect world, Communities could grow to grow to be a source of knowledge that might rival Reddit, where data is now only available to those that pay, earning it hundreds of thousands. (Whether X Communities will ever reach Reddit scale, in fact, is debatable. Still, even with some increased usage of the feature, xAI and Grok may benefit.)
With Thursday’s revamp, X users will now give you the chance to find posts from latest Communities which might be trending directly from an Explore tab throughout the section. (Note that is different from the Explore tab that shows what’s Trending across all of X, accessible from the app’s essential navigation.)
X may also begin showing users recommendations for Communities on their timeline, which is one other big push to assist the feature gain more attention. Plus, it is going to be easier to find Communities since they’ll be searchable by topic. After people join Communities, they may give you the chance to sort posts by what’s trending within the Communities they’re an element of, the corporate explains in a post on its Communities account.
Later, Communities may also add community analytics for moderators, Community Spaces (X’s live audio product), and higher moderation tools, the corporate says.
If X can persuade more users to hitch and post in Communities, it could increase the quantity of knowledge it could provide to Grok, which might profit each X and xAI. The previous already offers access to the Grok chatbot for its paid subscribers, and xAI gets wide distribution for Grok via X, as well.
