UFC women’s flyweight contender Miranda Maverick has vented her frustration with the matchmakers ahead of her fight against Tracy Cortez on July twentieth.

Miranda Maverick is preparing to tackle Tracy Cortez on the UFC’s Fight Night event on July twentieth, as she looks to make it three wins in a row.

Cortez alternatively is riding a five-fight win streak and placed on a career-best performance in her last outing against Jasmine Jasudavicius in September last 12 months.

Since signing with the promotion back in 2020, ‘Fear The’ Maverick has fought nine times but she doesn’t feel like two fights a 12 months is enough.

Miranda Maverick admits it’s ‘hard to make a living’ as she blames matchmakers

The 26-year-old has vented her frustration with the UFC matchmakers, blaming them for less than getting her two fights a 12 months, declaring that ideally, she would want more.

“I wish I fought much more, I feel two fights a 12 months is pretty pitiful, I feel three fights a 12 months isn’t that great and I wish us as fighters were those that got to decide on that.” Maverick told MMAJunkie.

“As most individuals know, some people don’t, the matchmakers are those that determine that they’re those that decision us and offer us fights, I’m at all times bugging the matchmakers like hey ready for brief notice fights, 3-day notice, 5-day notice or 2-week notice, I’m able to go.” she added.

Maverick went on to confess that it’s ‘hard to make a living’ by only fighting twice a 12 months, despite fighting at the extent she has been fighting at.

“I feel me showing that (I’m ready for those short notice fights) has made me more energetic by them offering me more, but man, it’s hard to make a living even at the extent I’m at once they only offer me two fights a 12 months.” Maverick revealed.

Maverick believes ‘pretty girl on Instagram’ shouldn’t be ranked

The 26-year-old was in the highest 15 at one point but isn’t currently ranked, and is hoping that come July twentieth, she will take Cortez’s spot at rank 11.

Despite Cortez being on a powerful five-fight win streak and picking up wins over the likes of Erin Blanchfield and the aforementioned Jasudavicius, Maverick believes the Mexican is barely ranked because she is a ‘pretty girl on Instagram’.

“I feel politics have so much to do with fighting, she’s that pretty girl on Instagram and every part else and I feel that’s a part of the explanation she’s still ranked to start with.

“She’s a really inactive fighter, hasn’t really fought anyone ranked and he or she’s still been ranked for an extended time period, so I wouldn’t doubt if I (beat) her, she stays in the highest 12, and I get bumped as much as 12 or 13 myself.” Maverick added.

Since 2020, Cortez has only fought every year and has withdrawn from two bouts in 2021 and 2022 because of medical issues.
