Nissan Canada, a subsidiary of auto maker Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., is driving toward a greater ecommerce experience for consumers and dealers.

This is step one towards a whole end-to-end experience, allowing customers to purchase anytime, anywhere.

Nissan Canada supports 209 independent Nissan dealerships, including 143 electric-vehicle-certified dealers, and 39 Infiniti dealerships across Canada. It sold 92,000 vehicles in 2023.

Now, Nissan Canada is rolling out a revamped ecommerce platform to generate much more automotive sales — and provides consumers much more options to purchase and finance a vehicle online.

The brand new ecommerce platform enables customers to order their desired vehicle with a 100% refundable deposit of $500 or $1,000.

Other features let consumers:

  • Construct and price latest vehicles online.
  • Filter search results by categories akin to budget, variety of seats, and other specialized metrics.
  • Book a test drive for a vehicle at home or at a dealership.
  • Seek for available inventory.
  • Compare pricing with similar vehicles from other competing manufacturers.

“We have now observed increased interest and reservations for vehicles geared toward this demographic, particularly for  the Sentra and Kicks, and it is crucial to say this is step one towards a whole end-to-end experience, allowing customers to purchase anytime, anywhere,” says a Nissan Canada spokesperson.

Overall, Nissan worldwide is spending $200 million to upgrade its digital commerce infrastructure, in line with a recent story in Automotive News.

Nissan USA sold 900,000 vehicles last yr, including 201,747 within the fourth quarter of 2023.

But it surely’s unclear if or when Nissan USA will update its ecommerce platform.

“Ecommerce is an element of Nissan’s global customer experience strategy, but countries have autonomy to create their very own solutions that adjust to market needs,” the spokesperson says.

Nissan Canada is retooling ecommerce now because customers want more options to purchase vehicles online, the spokesperson adds.

“In accordance with Google’s research, 50% of Gen Z and Millennials are willing to purchase vehicles online, and ecommerce provides our customers with 24/7 access to a Nissan showroom,” he says. “Ecommerce may also be a robust tool for bringing electric vehicles (EVs) and their accessories to our customers as we transition to a more electrified portfolio.”
