After Jake Paul’s highly anticipated boxing fight against Mike Tyson was postponed, Paul reportedly has a brand new matchup set for July twentieth, which Michael Bisping believes is a ‘big mistake’ for the YouTuber turned boxer.
Jake Paul was scheduled to tackle 57-year-old, Mike Tyson, on July twentieth but Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up on a flight, which resulted within the fight being pushed back to November fifteenth.
Despite rescheduling the event for later within the 12 months, ‘The Problem Child’ will reportedly fight BKFC fighter, Mike Perry, on July twentieth, with the main points surrounding the fight still yet to be confirmed.
Michael Bisping believes Jake Paul is making a ‘big mistake’
UFC legend, Michael Bisping, has previously been rumored to be a possible opponent for Paul, nevertheless, nothing ever materialized.
The previous UFC middleweight champion has stated that he respects Jake Paul for moving into the ring to fight, admitting that the 27-year-old has made major improvements over his four-year boxing tenure.
“He’s not technical, he’s not sharp, yes he has power, he’s a young man in his prime and he’s not a nasty lump of a person so, after all, he’s going to have power, and he’s dedicated himself and he’s improving on a regular basis, so fair play I give him respect for that,” Bisping said in a video on his YouTube channel.
Despite paying Paul some unusual respect, Bisping believes that the YouTuber turned boxer is making a ‘big mistake’ by fighting ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry.
“I say that he has made an enormous mistake here.
“He thinks Mike Perry’s easy work, he thinks Mike Perry’s got an enormous name, he’s an enormous star and he’s going to go on the market and beat him. He’s incorrect.
“Mike Perry is a fighter. There’s not a fight Mike Perry won’t take. He’s the epitome of an actual fighter and he’s an absolute star in (BKFC),” Bisping added.
Since moving over to BKFC in 2022, ‘Platinum’ has scored five wins with the promotion, beating the likes of Michael ‘Venom’ Page, Luke Rockhold, and Eddie Alvarez.
Jake Paul wants to avoid wasting UFC 303 against Sean O’Malley
Despite reports suggesting that Paul vs Perry is scheduled for July twentieth, neither the fighters nor the promotion has confirmed the plans, leaving it up within the air.
With that, ‘The Problem Child’ has unseriously put his name within the hat to avoid wasting the crumbling UFC 303 event scheduled for June twenty ninth.
The essential event between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler is reportedly in jeopardy, leading to the UFC searching for an ample alternative fight.
Current UFC bantamweight champion, Sean O’Malley, tweeted on X that he would tackle Jake Paul to avoid wasting the event, “I’ll fight Jake Paul to avoid wasting UFC 303.”
Paul responded to O’Malley, saying, “MMA fight before Tyson. 100% will kill O’Malley in MMA. He’s a small man. PFL vs UFC June twenty ninth.”
In January last 12 months, the PFL announced that they’d signed Paul to an exclusive MMA deal, with him expected to make his MMA debut before the top of 2024.
