Fernando “El Feroz” Vargas, Jr. dropped Juan Carlos Cordones twice in the primary round, scoring the stoppage for the WBC FECARBOX Super Welter title on Friday night on the Southwest University Event Center, El Paso, Texas.
Within the Foremost Event, Super Welter Fernando “El Feroz” Vargas, Jr., 15-0 (14), stopped Juan Carlos Cordones, 14-5 (9), at 2:58 of the ten rounds for the WBC FECARBOX title.
In the primary round, Vargas dropped Cordones with a left on the chin for an 8-count. Midway within the round, again, Vargas hurt Cordones, whose corner threw within the towel, calling a halt.

In co-feature Feather, WBC FECARBOX champ Nathan “El Morenito” Rodriguez, 15-0 (10), #126, of Pico Rivers, CA, stopped southpaw Jose “Tsunami” Saant, 15-5-1 (5) within the fourth round of a scheduled ten rounds.
In the primary round, the shorter Saant kept the pressure on Rodriguez, who used a countering jab. Within the second round, Saant kept backing Rodriguez to the ropes.
Within the third round, Rodriguez finally began throwing punches, backing Saant up at times throughout the round. In between rounds, the fight was stopped as a result of the cut by Referee Rocky Burke.
Light Abel “El Zorro” Mendoza, 41-0 (30), defeated German “El Panteonero” Ivan Meraz, 65-70-3 (41), over six rounds.
Within the third round, Meraz looks very awkward to someone with a record of 40-0. Within the fifth round, Meraz jumped toward Meraz, attempting to land a punch.
Within the sixth and final round, Meraz gets away with punches behind the top. Meraz leaped and missed with a left hook. Mendoza lands a flurry of punches in the ultimate seconds.
The Scores were 60-54 and 59-55 twice. The Referee was Rocky Burke.
Super Bantam Santos “Fino” Ortega, 8-0 (3), defeated Roman Garcia, 5-1-1 (3) over 6 interesting rounds.
In the primary round, it was all Ortega with looping rights to Garcia’s chin and switching backwards and forwards from orthodox to southpaw. Within the second round, Garcia got a cut on his left eyebrow from an Ortega left uppercut.
Within the fourth round, Garcia became the aggressor, looping punches with little success.
Within the fifth round, Garcia kept the pressure on past Ortega’s jab, forcing him back and taking his first round. The sixth and final round was an in depth one, with Garcia coming forward and Ortega mostly fighting the southpaw using his jab.
The Scores were 59-55 twice and 60-54.
Light Heavy Dominic Matthew Barry, 4-0 (4), stopped Idress “Grump Bear” Wasi, 1-4 (1), at 2:36 of the 4th and final round.
Within the second round, Barry had Wasi hurt with rights to the chin, holding on in the ultimate minute.
Within the third round, Referee Rocky Burke took some extent from Wasi for holding after several warnings. Barry hurt Wasi several times with rights on the chin.
Within the fourth and final round, Wasi spit out his mouthpiece for the third time, causing the stoppage by Referee Burke.
Super Welter Steph Pypers, 1-0 (1), impressed in stopping Ramon Stewart, 0-1 (0), at 1:11 of the primary round of a scheduled 4 rounds.
In the primary round Pypers scored 3 knockdowns with right uppercuts and overhand rights, before Referee Robert Mendez lll, waved it off.
