Andy Recalls Cringey Moment With Oprah

Entertainment Tonight reports that Andy Cohen is commemorating the fifteenth anniversary of his Bravo series, ‘Watch What Happens Live.’ The live late-night interactive show features guests from entertainment, politics and popular culture.

To mark this significant milestone, Cohen is reflecting on each the highs and lows of his profession. While the show has created many unforgettable moments, one of the crucial memorable appearances was by Oprah Winfrey in 2013.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Andy expressed how significant it was to have Oprah on the show.

“This was an enormous moment for me and for the show. I’m such a fan of Oprah,” Andy explained.

Nonetheless, when talking to PEOPLE, Andy explained that all the pieces was going well until he decided to ask Oprah if she had ever “taken a dip in the woman pond.” 

“It meant a lot to me that Oprah Winfrey did the show. It’s gone brilliantly and I turn around and ask her if she’s every had sex with a lady. I mean, couldn’t I leave it alone?”

Andy further elaborated that the moment and query stood out as considered one of his few regrets, despite it being a matter he typically posed to guests.

Within the 2013 interview, Oprah quickly responded to Andy’s query with a direct answer.

“No, no I even have not. Thanks.”

In response to Entertainment Tonight, the talk show host continued to disclose more details about his interview with Oprah, mentioning that he heard from her bestie Gayle King shortly afterward.

“Gayle King told me later that week that Oprah didn’t know what I meant by the woman pond. I believed I explained it pretty much there, but listen, I used to be so grateful that Oprah did the show and I still am. That is still, I feel, my favorite episode.”

Andy not only shared his most cringeworthy moment on ‘Watch What Happens Live,’ but additionally revealed his favorite guests, including Patti LuPone.

The producer also explained that he thinks ‘Watch What Happens Live’ has maintained its success resulting from its spontaneity and authenticity.

“The key to the success of ‘Watch What Happens Live,’ I feel, is spontaneity, authenticity, fun, humor, me going there and folks never knowing what’s gonna occur. People let their guard down here. It’s also live, we’re on at night, we serve alcohol,” Cohen explained.
