The makers of Karthikeya 2, People Media Factory, and Vijay Yelakanti have collaborated to provide Maa Kaali, a movie based on the true events of the Direct Motion Day and Naokhali massacres. The movie stars Raima Sen and Abhishek Singh and delves into the pivotal events of August 16, 1946, also often called The Week of Long Knives. The film sheds light on the atrocities committed against Bengali Hindus on the cusp of Independence and guarantees to uncover the horrors which have been long kept hidden.

The poster of the film has been revealed, announcing the date for the teaser launch on July 4. Director Vijay Yelakanti shares, “Maa Kaali is a homage to all of the lives lost within the ruthless massacre driven by power and ambition. Even though it is directly related to one of the significant chapters of our modern Indian history, Direct Motion Day continues to be an untold story of human suffering. With the film, we aim to supply a voice of support, sympathy and solidarity to all of the individuals who proceed to bear the scars of this uneventful tragedy.”
About Maa Kali
With the aim of a separate Muslim homeland, the All-India Muslim league resorted to “direct motion” on sixteenth August 1946, leading to communal violence sacrificing the lives of hundreds of Bengali Hindus. Scaling the events before, during and after the partition, the film guarantees to uncover the horrors which have been long kept hidden from the people.
Headlining the solid is Raima Sen who marks her return to the massive screens in a number one role together with an ensemble supporting solid. Shot in Hindi, Maa Kaali is a trilingual film which will even release in Bengali and Telugu. Written and directed by Vijay Yelakanti, the film is produced by TG Vishwa Prasad, co-produced by Vivek Kuchibhotla and presented by People Media Factory. The film is slated to release this 12 months and the teaser is scheduled to launch on Thursday, July 4.
