Laura Kinney, also often known as Wolverine and X-23, has made a big return to the large screen in “Deadpool and Wolverine” and is now headlining her own ongoing comic series. This latest series, titled “Laura Kinney: Wolverine,” was announced on the Women of Marvel panel during Comic-Con International in San Diego.
It would be written by Erica Shultz, who previously worked on the “X-23: Deadly Genesis” limited series, and can feature artwork by Giada Belviso, known for her work on the “Jackpot & Black Cat” limited series.
In “Laura Kinney: Wolverine,” Laura ventures into the darkest corners of the Marvel Universe to defend mutants who’re unable to guard themselves. This mission aligns along with her history as a genetically engineered child assassin who was held captive and compelled to kill before she became a part of the X-Men.
Marvel’s announcement for the primary issue highlights her solo missions, emphasizing her relentless pursuit to stop those that oppress mutants, whatever the challenges she faces.
The series guarantees intense motion as Laura, along with her violent methods and unwavering determination, becomes a one-mutant army feared by those that exploit mutants. Nevertheless, her growing status and the increasing variety of mutants searching for her help might make her a goal.
The storyline takes place after the autumn of Krakoa, a time when mutants are more hated, feared, mistrusted, and manipulated than ever before, making Laura’s role as Wolverine crucial for his or her survival.
Laura Kinney can also be a key character within the “NYX” series, which focuses on a gaggle of young mutants, including Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan, who seek community in Recent York City. Author Erica Shultz expressed the need to explore different facets of Laura’s character, showing her capability for each laughter and tears.
Laura’s encounters along with her clones have prompted her to query her identity and fate, ultimately leading her to forge her own path, distinct from Logan’s legacy. This series will chronicle her solo adventures as she navigates these personal and external challenges.
“Laura Kinney: Wolverine” #1 is ready to release on December 11, featuring a canopy by Elena Casagrande. Fans can look ahead to a deep and action-packed exploration of Laura Kinney’s character as she takes on her latest role within the Marvel Universe, fighting for the oppressed mutants and carving out her own legacy.
