Chrissy Teigen recently opened up about her son’s diagnosis after fans spotted something “somewhat special” on a photograph shared on her Instagram page.
Teigen, mom of 4 with husband John Legend, shared that her son Miles, 6, was recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. After reading all of the uplifting comments, Teigen shared how she was, “blown away by the kindness of this community.”

Chrissy Teigen Opened Up About Her Son’s Recent Diagnosis
After sharing a photograph on Instagram of her with two of her kids on the Olympics, lots of Teigen’s Instagram followers noticed something latest. Teigen shared an update addressing all of the comments just a few days later.
“A variety of you noticed something somewhat special a few photo I posted just a few days ago – Luna, Miles and I celebrating Simone and Team USA. Miles had his arm up, and soooo lots of you reached out to say essentially the most beautiful and incredible words I actually have ever witnessed on this platform,” Teigen shared in an announcement.
“You noticed his type-1 diabetes monitor and prolonged a lot love and encouragement in every way possible. I used to be, and am, so blown away by the kindness of this community, already.”
Her statement went on to say she knows that “things may very well be a lot worse.”

“So many parents world wide are going through unfathomable things that I could never imagine,” she continued. “I tell myself this each time we get a red alert blasted to our phones. And we’re so blessed to have a lot help and a beautiful, kind, huge-hearted specialist.”

Chrissy Teigen Shared How And When Miles Was Diagnosed
Teigen shared more of Miles’s Type-1 diabetes journey within the carousel of photos on Instagram.
“A pair weeks ago, our Miles was sick, within the hospital, with a terrible case of shigella, an intestinal infection attributable to bacteria in food or water. A variety of his friends were also sick with it, as all of them went to the identical camp and well, it happens,” she explained.
“However the doctors knew something else was off about his blood tests. I’ve learned since then that that is how so many young children find yourself being diagnosed with type-1 – going to the hospital for something completely different.”
She further explained that after some more testing, they learned that Miles is within the “honeymoon period of a lifetime of T1.”

“Last night, we gave him his first shot of insulin and here we go!” she said. “A special, latest world for us and we’re definitely learning a lot on the fly.”

Many Of Chrissy Teigen’s Instagram Followers Shared Kind Words And Their Stories
A lot of Teigen’s fans and followers shared words of support and love after noticing Miles’ diabetes monitor.
“I see Miles, like my son, has #T1D and wears a Dexcom G7. Brava little man, you CAN do anything with the additional technology and support,” one follower shared within the comments of Teigen’s photo.
One other fan shared, “Been type 1 for 19 years and I just began wearing my Dex Com and Omni Pod, because I used to be afraid to be different. I like that he’s wearing it loud and proud.”
One other person wrote, “Miles showing his CGM proudly. What a brave boy! Sending love and positivity from one Type 1 family to yours.”
More Love And Support Flooded The Comment Section Of The Update Post
After Teigen addressed the comments and shared Miles’ story, more people reached out via the comment section to share some kind words.
“Welcome to the T1D community mama!! My daughter Layla was diagnosed at 5 years old in full DKA. I’m so glad they were in a position to catch it early. When times feel hard, I’ll inform you something one other Type 1 mama told me – you were chosen to be Miles’s mom for a reason, and God selected this journey for him because he knows he’s strong, we’re all here rooting for you,” one person shared.

One other added, “I’ve had type 1 for 18 years and I can promise you it gets easier each 12 months. The training curve is steep and the start will be so hard, but this community is unbeatable. He’s going to grow as much as be so kind and compassionate towards others and can even turn into a master of advocating for himself and the people he loves!”
Nick Jonas Was “So Kind” To Miles
One commenter brought Nick Jonas into the chat saying, “My two brothers have T1, love that book. @nickjonas does too, your son should go meet bad a– people, and see he isn’t alone and might still accomplish anything. It’s scary nevertheless it becomes second nature and also you guys will rock it.”
Teigen replied, “Nick was so kind to him!! We were so lucky to run into him.”
Jonas was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was 13. He told PEOPLE in 2021 that it took a while for him to get used to dealing together with his diagnosis.
“I had this sort of wrench thrown into things once I was diagnosed and it took some time to work out the way to count carbs to properly dose for insulin and what things would affect me in other ways,” Jonas said.

He also said that while he now has a “fairly good grip on it,” he wishes he had someone to look as much as when he was first diagnosed.
“Once I was first diagnosed, I used to be sitting within the hospital and was scared to death, truthfully, while I used to be learning about the way to manage this latest thing I used to be coping with,” he said. “It could have been amazing to have someone to have a look at at the moment to say, oh, it is a person living with it they usually’re following their dreams. They’re doing what they need to do with their lives and never letting it slow them down.”
