Bollywood icon Aamir Khan has shared his future plans as he contemplates the ultimate phase of his illustrious profession. During a recent interaction with Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud, after a special screening of Laapataa Ladies for Supreme Court judges, Aamir revealed his intention to shift focus from acting to producing movies. Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao, relies on gender equality and tells the story of two brides who’re mistakenly exchanged during a train journey.
Aamir, reflecting on the impact of the Covid-19 lockdown, acknowledged, “I noticed that is the last leg of my profession, and I wanted to present back. I believed I could do one film a yr, but as a producer, I can back multiple stories that I feel strongly about.” At 56, Aamir hopes to make a meaningful contribution by producing 4 to 5 movies annually, offering a platform to recent writers, directors, and creatives.
With Laapataa Ladies marking the start of this recent chapter, Aamir’s future projects promise to bring more compelling stories to the large screen, continuing his legacy in a distinct role.
