Blake Energetic has been within the highlight recently, particularly on account of the forged drama surrounding It Ends With Us.
The 36-year-old actress is now drawing attention for her response to a serious query posed by journalist Jake Hamilton in regards to the romantic drama, which addresses themes like emotional and domestic abuse.
Within the interview, released on August 8 on YouTube, Hamilton asked the Gossip Girl star, “If someone understands the themes of this movie and meets you in public, wanting to debate it, what’s the easiest way for them to approach you? How would you recommend they go about it?”
Energetic, seated next to her co-star Brandon Sklenar, responded, “Perhaps asking for, like, my address, or my phone number. Or, like, location share?! I could just location-share you after which we could…”
Her response sparked criticism within the YouTube comments. One viewer noted, “Her initial response to the primary query is so out of touch.”
One other wrote, “Wow, Blake, I actually thought you were a greater person than this. Your response to his questions is just mind-blowing—how out of touch you’re as a human being. A whole lot of people experience DV [domestic violence], and so that you can joke about it’s just crazy and heartless, to be honest.”
A user on TikTok commented,”What garbage answer where is her media training?!?”
This incident follows one other controversial interview, highlighted by journalist Kjersti Flaa, who shared a 2016 interview with Energetic and her co-star Parker Posey for Café Society. Flaa revealed that it was certainly one of the moments in her profession that made her consider quitting. She wrote within the YouTube description, “Sitting down with Blake Energetic and Parker Posey for Café Society was probably the most uncomfortable interview situation I actually have ever experienced. Is it not okay to congratulate someone on their pregnancy or to ask one other woman in regards to the costumes she’s wearing in a movie?”
During that interview, after Flaa congratulated Energetic on her pregnancy, Energetic, who’s married to Ryan Reynolds, responded sarcastically with, “Congrats in your little bump,” resulting in a clumsy remainder of the interview.
