In an episode of Good Guy/Bad Guy, he said: “I used to be going after Tito [Ortiz] back within the day. And as my method to get to Tito, I put a plan together that I used to be going to undergo Frank Shamrock.

“I had signs made where we’d march around identical to it was a campaign for office…the oldsters that made me the signs, misspelled ‘Frank Shamrock’. After which, I used to be only a doofus! I saw those signs ahead of time, that night within the locker room. However it was still a alternative: will we do that?

“I elected to do it, and albeit, when the name is misspelled, I should’ve just left those signs within the back.”

The trash talker eventually got his opportunity to go head-to-head with Ortiz contained in the Bellator cage in 2017.

In an especially controversial encounter, Sonnen appeared to submit ‘The Huntington Beach Bad Boy’. Nonetheless, it wasn’t counted, and Ortiz eventually managed to mount a comeback and claim the victory for himself.

And it’s fair to say they each fired their justifiable share of amusing shots in the opposite’s direction.
