Teofimo Lopez showed up on Friday on the weigh-in for Canelo Alvarez vs. Edgar Berlanga to make use of the timeline to call out Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and other notable fighters he has little probability of ever fighting.

Teofimo is real thirsty. Tank Davis isn’t going to fight Teofimo because they’re too far apart in weight, and he’s got more popular fighters available. Teofimo has not performed well in his recent fights against Steve Claggett, Jamaine Ortiz, Sandor Martin and Pedro Campa.

The WBO light welterweight champion Teofimo (21-1, 13 KOs) volunteered to be WBA ‘regular’ lightweight champion Gervonta’s next opponent on December 14th.

Teofimo’s approach in calling out Tank gave the impression of he was begging him for a payday, and that’s not a great search for him career-wise.

That is about money for Teofimo because he rehydrates to almost 160 lbs for his fights at 140, and he doesn’t belong fighting anyone at 135. If Teofimo desires to test himself against a light-weight, he should prove himself by fighting William Zepeda or Andy Cruz.

It’s unclear why Teofimo waited this long to call him out. He must have done it after Vasily Lomachenko announced that he was taking the rest of the 12 months off and wouldn’t be available to fight Tank in November or December.

In keeping with promoter Leonard Ellerbe, Tank is already considering two fighters for his next fight. One is rumored to be Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela, who recently dethroned WBA light welterweight champion Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz on August third.

“Hey, Tank, give me a fight, brother. He ain’t fighting, I ain’t fighting. What’s up? I don’t like people saying I’m ducking any person. Why do I beat him? Because I’m the takeover, that’s why,” said Teofimo Lopez to the media, calling out Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.

Teofimo is simply too big to return to lightweight to fight Tank Davis. He would probably try for the cash, but he can be in bad shape if he did make weight. If Tank were to fight Teofimo, he’d likely insist on a rehydration clause to be certain that Teo doesn’t balloon as much as middleweight.
