Jeremy Swayman has the leverage as he waits for a brand new contract from the Boston Bruins

Johnston: “Well, the undeniable fact that that trade was made tells you that Swayman has got a whole lot of leverage in these talks. I mean, he’s had such a terrific begin to his profession. His numbers are amongst a few of the very best goaltenders by way of any comparables that he and his side bring to the table. And so, you understand, obviously he’s searching for an enormous deal.
What I’ll say is that this, there’s been a whole lot of speculation on the Swayman front. The sense I get is there’s way less concern contained in the talks, behind the scenes, with the people involved in those talks than there may be by way of a number of the discussion publicly.
And form of like I talked about Perfetti going to the Vegas media tour on behalf of the Jets. You understand, Swayman’s been in Boston skating together with his teammates. I feel that’s a superb sign. It’s an indication of somebody who desires to be there. Desires to be with the team. That a number of the animosity that may sometimes come into these form of negotiations isn’t present.
And look, we’ll should see how this plays out in these coming days. It becomes so vital now, right, deadline, it’s a soft deadline, but the beginning of Camp is an enormous day to get any of those restricted agent deals done. And so, for Swayman and the Bruins, I do think next week looms as a reasonably vital deadline of their talks.

But, as I say, my sense is that they’re going to seek out something that gets him into training camp, since it’s a vital season for the team, and he’s such a vital player to that organization.”
