UFC champion Tom Aspinall talks Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois

Speaking via the newest episode of Fight Lab, interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall was asked about his thoughts on this weekend’s enormous boxing clash at Wembley Stadium.

“I fancy that – I like watching the heavyweights mate, very interesting fight I reckon, tear up between two massive guys: Where’s Joshua at on this point in his profession against a young guy in Daniel Dubois?”

Whilst Aspinall is “really looking forward” to the 2 British juggernauts throwing down in front of a crowd expected to are available at around 96,000 people, he does see the fight itself stepping into Joshua’s favor – especially following his recent performances.

“I feel with what Joshua has done recently, he really has [reignited interest] and I feel that his latest training situation is clearly working for him with Ben Davison.

“Not only that, I feel mentally something has switched in there – I don’t know him personally, but you possibly can really see the hearth in him now whereas before, especially after his losses though Usyk, he was a bit gun-shy.”

Following his split decision loss to Oleksandr Usyk of their 2022 rematch, AJ won a unanimous decision over Jermaine Franklin and since that bout, has gone on a wonderful knockout streak.

That streak includes finishes over Robert Helenius (round 7), Otto Wallin (Round 5), and Francis Ngannou (round 2) – simply put, AJ is putting on the pressure and ending contests with thunderous right hands earlier and earlier each fight.

“He did look a little bit bit gun-shy [before] and now he’s like ‘Right, here I’m, we’re having it and also you’re going to sleep’,” stated the man KO artist, who ended his breakdown by noting that a key a part of Joshua’s resurgence has are available partial due to his long-term rival, Tyson Fury.

“I feel his [Joshua] performance against Francis Ngannou, after what Ngannou did to Fury, it was mega-impressive,” with Fury only barely scrapping past the previous UFC heavyweight champion in 2023.
