No NHL expansion voting just yet
TSN: There’s a Board of Governors meeting scheduled for next week in Recent York. Expansion has come up again these days with the cities of Houston and Atlanta being mentioned, but don’t count on there being any voting done on expansion in line with Chris Johnston.
“And I used to be told unequivocally that there’s going to be no expansion votes or no opening of a proper expansion process as a part of that meeting. I believe what might occur there is probably Gary Bettman will update the present league owners on those expressions of interest that the league has been getting from other cities. But at this time limit, it’s still a back-burner issue. I’d say for the league. Every reason to consider expansion is coming somewhere down the road, but let’s tap the brakes. It’s not coming here within the immediate future.”

Kevin McGran of the Toronto Star: NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman shoots down any NHL expansion rumors.
“All the pieces that’s been written within the last week is categorically flawed,” Bettman told the Star on Monday. “We’re not going through an expansion process. And aside from updating the board on Oct. 1 as to places which have expressed an interest, there’s nothing else that’s going to be done on expansion.”
Established order between the Boston Bruins and Jeremy Swayman
TSN: The dialogue continues between the Boston Bruins and RFA goaltender Jeremy Swayman, but as of Tuesday, things were established order in line with Pierre LeBrun. Getting the sense that opening night of the regular season may very well be the primary real deadline.
“The important thing thing is that Swayman remains to be very focused on getting an eight-year deal. That’s still the No. 1 priority for him, and the Bruins are taking a look at a long-term deal as well.
But, you may’t have the Shesterkin discussion without having Swayman tied into it within the sense that they’re different negotiations. Swayman, when it comes to the collective bargaining agreement, isn’t at the identical leverage point because he won’t be a UFA at the top of the yr. So, Shesterkin has the upper leverage point.
NHL Rumors: Igor Shesterkin, Linus Ullmark, and Phil Kessel
But in Swayman, there’s a little bit of what I just talked about . Simply because all these goalies are signing for whatever they signed for the last couple years, that Swayman can’t discover a technique to push through.”
