Bill Haney took to social media today to let promoter Oscar De La Hoya know his son Devin Haney’s lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia “still stands.”
Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) is suing Ryan for a doping violation from their fight on April twentieth, wherein Garcia tested positive for a banned substance.
Haney, 25, hasn’t said what his plans for his profession or if he’ll ever fight again. If that is Devin’s focus, hoping to hit it big together with his lawsuit, he may very well be upset if it fails. By now, the previous two-division world champion Haney must have already signaled whether he’ll resume fighting.
Some fans feel like he’s given up and will probably be hanging up his gloves. He took a vicious pounding from Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs), getting dropped several times in 12 round decision loss.
In line with Garcia, the rematch isn’t any longer an option. He doesn’t want anything to do with Haney due to his lawsuit.
“Oscar De La [Hoya] everybody out. Gennadiy Golovkin sued you, and Ryan Garcia threatened to sue you. I don’t need to take a seat down with you on nothing,” said Bill Haney on social media, reacting to Oscar De La Hoya saying on X that he would help the Haney’s understand the contract for the Ryan Garcia fight last April.

If Haney does proceed his profession, he could have to try to come back back from his loss at 147. That will probably be hard for him to do because that’s a tricky division to compete in for fighters who lack power and a robust chin. Haney could be the equivalent of fish food at welterweight, and he won’t last long on this weight class.
Enough is enough. Every fighter who has worked with Golden Boy has all the time been paid exactly what they’re owed and given all documents they were entitled to. Period. Any suggestion on the contrary is solely false. If the Haneys are still having trouble understanding their…
