That ’90s Show won’t be getting a 3rd season.
That’s in response to one in all the show’s stars, Kurtwood Smith, who posted the news on Instagram on Thursday night.
“I do know you have got been asking me when season 3 is coming, but I actually have tough news…Netflix is not going to be renewing,” he began his post. “I just wish to take a minute to say THANK YOU to all the fans all over the place who supported and watched the show. You’ve gotten come as much as me in random parts of the world after I’m traveling and reached out to me through social media and just been so wonderful.”
Smith played Red Forman on the show, reprising his role from the unique series, That ’70s Show, alongside Debra Jo Rupp, who played his wife, Kitty, in each series.
“I’ve loved every minute of attending to bring Grandpa Red to life for you all,” Smith continued. “I’ve said it before however it’s value mentioning again…this show had a lot heart behind it and essentially the most wonderful forged, writers, directors, producers and crew an actor could hope to work with. Thanks for letting Red and Kitty, their grandkid, all their grandkids friends and neighbors, the unique forged members of That 70’s Show and all of our wonderful guest forged members entertain you for 2 seasons.”
The ’90s series took place 15 years after the primary, with the daughter (Callie Haverda) of Eric (original star Topher Grace) and Donna (original star Laura Prepon) visiting her grandparents (the Formans) over one summer.
Other original guest stars making appearances on the ’90s edition included Wilmer Valderrama, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher. The forged also included Ashley Aufderheide, Mace Coronel, Maxwell Acee Donovan, Reyn Doi and Sam Morelos.
In his post, Smith indicated that he feels the show isn’t quite dead yet, nevertheless.
“To steal Red Forman’s words…we aren’t going to be dumbasses…we are going to shop the show, because good grandparents would try hard to get these kids graduated from highschool,” he ended his post.
