As we previously reported here on eWn, five former WWE “ring boys” are taking legal motion against Vince McMahon, Linda McMahon, and WWE’s parent company, TKO, over claims of sexual abuse that occurred within the Nineteen Eighties.
The lawsuit alleges that former WWE staff members Mel Phillips and Terry Garvin mistreated them and states that Vince and Linda McMahon were aware of the situation but didn’t take motion.
Vince has since issued a press release outright denying the allegations, asserting that the case resembles claims made by journalist Phil Mushnick within the Nineties.
During a recent interview with “Post Wrestling,” attorney Greg Gutzler, representing the plaintiffs, responded to McMahon’s statement.
Gutzler said, “When you read the 81-page grievance, you will see multiple facts, myriad facts, dozens of facts that don’t have anything to do with Phil Mushnick. We had the incontrovertible fact that we had Mel Phillips, shuttling young boys in plain sight, in front of WWE executives and wrestlers, from state to state. You could have him in plain sight staying in hotel rooms with young boys. You could have in plain sight Mel Phillips engaging in sexual foot fetishes within the ring in front of individuals, within the locker room in front of wrestlers, and he was even provided his private dressing room in certain areas. You could have the FBI videotape, where the FBI said — the behavioral science unit said — that is consistent with pedophilia and sexual foot fetishes.”
Gutzler identified that McMahon didn’t deny informing others that Phillips was focused on young boys.
He also mentioned that McMahon had previously fired Phillips but later rehired him under the condition that he “steered clear of the children.”
And at last, Gutzler remarked that while McMahon had pursued a defamation lawsuit against Mushnick regarding his statements, his eventual withdrawal implied that Mushnick’s claims were credible.
