Armaan Bhatia creates history at PWR DUPR India Masters

The much-anticipated Day 4 of PWR DUPR India Masters ended on a high, with India’s rising star Armaan Bhatia securing a win in all three matches. All of the finals games, played on the Centre Court of the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA) Stadium, were jam-packed with energy and intensity, as players fought fiercely to secure their much-deserved wins. The four-day event saw over 2,300 matches across 33 categories starting from Under 12 to 60+, making this the most important pickleball tournament in Asia. The Pro (Open) categories featured a few of the most effective Indian and international talent, who not only played their best but in addition showed immense support for other athletes competing across categories, highlighting the sport’s community-driven spirit.

Within the Pro (Open) Women’s Singles game, The USA’s Sofia Sewing won against Chinese-Taipei player Kao Pei-Chuan, securing wins in two back-to-back games. She scored 11-3 and 11-2 to attain this feat.  In one of the thrilling matches of the season, the Pro (Open) Men’s Singles, Armaan Bhatia got into an intense battle of the racquet with USA’s Dusty Boyer. After losing the primary game 11-8, Armaan got into an intense battle with Dusty, cinching a win by a mere whisker as he scored 11-9. The third and final game of the match was equally intense, with Dusty taking the lead 8-0. Nonetheless, Armaan fought back, quickly levelling the rating to 8-8 and eventually winning with a solid 11-8.

Within the third Pro (Open) match of the day, The Australian-Dutch duo of Roos Van Reek and Kaitlynn Hart clinched the Women’s Doubles title after an action-packed game. They played against the Asian duo Yuchieh Hsieh & Xiao Yi Wang-Beckvall, winning the primary game 11-5. Hsieh-Wang-Beckvall fought back, winning the second game 11-8. Within the third and final game, Reek-Hart won the battle with a 11-7 win.

The fourth Pro (Open) Finals match was the Mixed Doubles, wherein Indo-Dutch duo Armaan Bhatia and Roos Van Reek (who each won their earlier matches) defeated the Australian pair George Wall and Danni E. Townsend within the adrenaline-pumping match. Bhatia-van Reek won their first set 11-5, but Wall-Townsend made a robust comeback, securing 11-10 and levelling the match. Within the deciding set, Bhatia-van Reek played relentlessly and won with a snug 11-1.
 

The ultimate Pro (Open) match, featuring India’s Armaan Bhatia and Harsh Mehta won against Australian-American duo of Mitchell Hargreaves and Roman Estareja, with Armaan securing his third and final win of the night. In the primary game, the Indian duo scored 11-3 and within the second set, they maintained their lead, sealing the take care of a sweet 11-2 win.
