Luke Littler had a Grand Slam of Darts debut to recollect, and he’s warned his rivals he’s trying to go all the best way.
The 17-year-old thrashed Keane Barry 5-0 in the primary round on Saturday, taking just six minutes on stage to seal victory.
The British darts sensation has won two PDC major titles already – the 2024 Premier League of Darts and the 2024 World Series of Darts.
But Littler says he’s aiming so as to add one other major to his growing list of accolades, as he sent a warning to his rivals after his blistering win.
Asked on Sky Sports what he did within the construct as much as his electric performance, Littler laughed: “I have been practicing!”
He continued: “Obviously my major tournaments [record] is not the perfect record, so I just focused on tonight [to] make an announcement.
“I’m here to win.”
He raced right into a 3-0 lead with a 14-darter, 12-darter after which an 11-darter.
Barry had no reply as Littler cleaned up with little trouble, ending the match with a mean of 112.16.
The Grand Slam of Darts starts with group matches which might be better of nine legs.
After three games, the highest two in each group qualify for the knock-out stage.
And Littler says he’s looking forward to being involved in that format as he compared it to his other sporting love, football.
“Just [like] watching the football, the Champions League within the group stage!
“Leading as much as it I have been practicing well, I’m just going to enjoy it.
“But I’m really glad tonight.”
Asked if he desires to top his group, he said: “Yeah I need to top the group. Everyone desires to.
“I do know there’s somewhat bonus for ending top as well.
“But I’ll get out the group stage, then I’ll deal with the primary of 10 legs after which hopefully go on and on.
“But I’m here.”
