Jake Paul wants a colossal step up in competition after his decisive win over boxing legend Mike Tyson.
Boxing fans proceed to lambast Jake Paul for his questionable strength of schedule, but his latest callout may turn some heads after defeating the legendary Mike Tyson.
After a slow start against Tyson within the opening minutes, Paul earned one other lopsided win by unanimous decision over the 58-year-old boxing legend. Admittedly, Paul took it easy on Tyson because the fight progressed, claiming he didn’t need to knock out Tyson after dealing a sufficient amount of harm.
Despite Tyson’s age and physical ability, Paul earned arguably the largest win of his young boxing profession in Dallas. He’s bounced back nicely since suffering his first profession loss to Tommy Fury last 12 months.
Paul’s boxing profession has featured a slow, but gradual increase in opponent difficulty since he first placed on the gloves. After taking out a slew of MMA legends, including Nate Diaz, Paul seems laser-focused on facing top boxing competition.
Paul didn’t hesitate in calling out one among the game’s all-time greats, and arguably the perfect current boxer on the planet, following his latest victory. He wants Canelo Alvarez next, despite admitting that Alvarez likely won’t accept a fight with him.
But, the challenges related to facing an opponent of Alvarez’s caliber are value it for Paul.
Jake Paul wants Canelo Alvarez after extending boxing win streak vs. Mike Tyson
In a recent episode of his BS w/ Jake Paul podcast, Paul acknowledged he is likely to be biting off greater than he can chew in a possible boxing match with Alvarez.
“Generally, everyone’s biggest critique is ‘Fight a professional! Fight someone your age!’,” Paul said. “So after I said Canelo is the person, then everyone hates on that…wouldn’t the perfect opportunity to see me lose be going up against Canelo?
“People won’t be satisfied with my profession until I get f***ing flatlined…among the finest to ever do it, a legend, pound-for-pound great… yeah, it’s gonna be an insane fight. It’s gonna be hard as f***. I’d get my a** beat and flatlined. But let’s f***ing discover!”
Paul can have to attend at the very least just a few weeks before booking one other fight after he and Tyson were suspended for twenty-four days. This sets up Paul to potentially return to the ring in the primary quarter of 2025, on the earliest.
Jake Paul’s high-stakes callout goes unanswered after beating Mike Tyson
As of this writing, Alvarez hasn’t responded to Paul’s post-fight callouts as he ponders his next boxing booking. He hasn’t fought since a win over Edgar Berlanga in September.
Despite Alvarez’s cold shoulder, the boxing superstar has expressed openness to creating the Paul fight occur. He’s also hinted at a possible crossover fight with UFC superstar Conor McGregor in recent times.
Paul could potentially take a look at booking a rematch with Fury, the lone boxer to defeat him, amidst the uncertainty of facing Alvarez. After losing to Fury, Paul activated his contractual rematch clause even though it’s uncertain when the run-back will come to fruition.
Paul has won five fights in a row since falling to Fury, including recent wins over Ryan Bourland and Andre August. He defeated the previous UFC fan favorite Diaz by unanimous decision of their 2023 clash.
Paul has lofty goals for the remaining of his boxing profession as he looks forward to what’s next within the hours after defeating Tyson. Love him or hate him, fight fans can’t query the ambitions of one among combat sports’ most polarizing figures.
