Actress Nayanthara celebrates her birthday today and to mark the occasion, the makers of her next film announced the title, Rakkayie and shared a small teaser. Her documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale also dropped on OTT, giving her fans a glimpse of her life and journey. Popularly referred to as Lady Superstar, she cemented her position in Indian cinema along with her experimental roles and charm. The actress won her first Filmfare Award (South) for her 2011 film Sri Rama Rajyam. She won one other Filmfare Award in 2016 for the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Interestingly, this film is the crux of an ongoing feud between actor Dhanush and her.
Back in 2016, she mentioned Dhanush in her winning speech. The actor was the producer of the film and it was directed by Nayanthara’s now-husband, Vignesh Shivan. She began her speech by thanking actress Khushboo from whom she received the award. She said, “Thanks Filmfare for probably the most prestigious black lady. To start with, thanks to all my fans who’ve all the time supported me through my lows and highs, who’ve all the time believed in me so thanks quite a bit. Thanks to Vijay Sethupathi sir and the whole forged and crew, cameraman George, Sreekar sir and everybody who has worked really hard for Naamum Rowdy Dhaan. An enormous hug and massive thanks to my director Vignesh Shivan who made probably the most difficult Kadambari possible. If not for him, I’d not have pulled it through. And thanks to my rockstar Anirudh who has been the best strength for Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.”

Nayanthara then mentioned Dhanush and jokingly said, “And coming to my producer Dhanush. Thanks Dhanush for initiating NRD. And I even have to express regret also. Because Dhanush absolutely hated my performance in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Sorry for disappointing you with my performance. I’ll probably make it higher next time.”
Nayanthara recently penned a protracted open letter to Dhanush where she mentioned that his “displeasure over the film’s success was perceptible even to common man through award functions connected with this film (Filmfare 2016).”
She mentioned within the letter that Dhanush was against them using clips and music of that film for her documentary. She revealed that the actor sent them a legal notice and demanded Rs 10 crore because they used a three-second BTS still within the film that was shot on their personal devices. Nayanthara further accused Dhanush of claiming horrible things about Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, which was one among his biggest hits as a producer.Â
