The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Dorit Kemsley is giving more insight into her separation from husband Paul “PK” Kemsley after nine years of marriage.
During a conversation with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live following the season 14 premiere on Tuesday, the clothier and Bravo personality revealed that she and PK are doing well after announcing their separation in May. The news of their separation played out during Tuesday night’s premiere, with Kemsley opening as much as a number of the forged before their separation made headline news.
“Things are good. We’re friendly, and we’re communicating, and things are established order,” she said on the Bravo late night show, before being asked by the host to make clear in the event that they are divorced. “No, and neither is it even a subject of conversation.”
Dorit, speaking now six months after announcing the news, explained that her kids don’t really know that their parents are separated, despite their father staying in an apartment on the town, noting they think he’s just staying there for work. Dorit and PK, when opening up about their decision in the course of the RHOBH premiere, said they weren’t planning on telling their kids, aged 8 and 10.
“So long as PK and I are friendly and things are pretty normal for them, they’re OK,” she told Cohen. “When PK and I made a decision to separate, we didn’t know what we were going to do, so we thought, ‘Why don’t we figure it out first, in order that after they’re asking us questions, we’ve got answers?’ I’m going to be guided by my kids. If my kids are asking me questions, I’m going to be honest with them, and also you type of learn to grasp what they need to hear, what they don’t, what they’re comfortable with.”
Prior to announcing their split, Dorit had shared that they were higher than ever during last season’s RHOBH reunion, but, as she opened up about in the course of the premiere, she says all the pieces then got here crashing down. On the show, she called PK an alcoholic and cited fighting and distance between them after her at-home attack as reasons for the split, the latter which also played out in the course of the series. On the premiere, Dorit and PK said he was now sober.
“Every week ago, there was a moment and it was over nothing, and one thing led to a different, and we sat down like two very mature adults who love and care about each other and mutually decided that taking some space,” Dorit told castmember Erika Jayne in the course of the premiere of the inciting incident.
Elsewhere within the WWHL appearance, the TV personality admitted she was surprised when her RHOBH co-star, Kyle Richards, texted PK first following the news of their separation, which they announced in a joint statement in May.
“We as a pair have been subject to loads of speculation about our marriage. We have now had our struggles over the previous couple of years and proceed to work through them as two individuals who love one another and share two amazing children together,” the Kemsleys wrote on Instagram Stories on the time.
They continued, “To safeguard our deep friendship and maintain a harmonious environment for our youngsters we’ve made the mutual and difficult decision to take a while apart and re-evaluate our relationship while we prioritize our youngsters. We appreciate your love and support while we proceed to do the work mandatory throughout this journey.”
