Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic was on Sirius XM NHL Network Radio Power Play Segment with Steve Kouleas and Andrew Raycroft on Monday and was asked what’s the present direction of the St. Louis Blues and do they consider themselves in a retool or rebuild.

Jeremy Rutherford: “So I believe, I believe the most effective method to explain that it’s just a little bit multifaceted and we’ve got to have a look at the massive picture and understand that they’re in a retool. And I believe their roster is just in just a little little bit of flux straight away. You continue to have the Brandon Saad’s, you could have some players up front, Brayden Schenn on a long-term contract.
Are these guys going to be around in a number of years when the Blues really begin to feel like they’re going to take that next step? When a few of their prospects are available in and develop like Jimmy Snuggerud from Minnesota, like Dalibor Dvorsky, who’s within the minor leagues straight away, a top-10 overall pick a few years ago.

So I believe straight away, the state that they’re in, they’re attempting to win with form of this hodgepodge roster that they’ve. They need to be a rush team. They’ve got a Robert Thomas and a Jordan Kyrou who’re able to that. But have they got a remainder of their roster who will be like that? So I believe at the top of the day, for these couple years that they’re in this example with the retool, waiting on certain guys to develop and get to the subsequent level and play within the NHL, I believe they’re just going to should be hard to play against. They usually haven’t been that way this season.
