Once more, a Final Fantasy XIV world’s first claim is surrounded by controversy. For now, we’ll be maintaining a tally of the Echo x MogTalk stream to see which team achieves it live first.
The Japan-based team GRIND is the world’s first raid team to clear Final Fantasy XIV’s newest Ultimate raid, Futures Rewritten. The clear comes much faster than the previous Ultimate raid, The Omega Protocol, which was marred by controversy when a cheating team, UNNAMED_, claimed the world’s first title. Unfortunately, GRIND was not among the many teams streaming their progress, so we’ll need to wait for video footage to see how the fight ends. Currently, Echo leads the streaming teams, hitting the enrage on the ultimate phase at 5.6 percent. Lucrezia isn’t far off at 7.3 percent. On the time of publishing, the race remains to be on for the streamed world’s first, and it’s currently Echo’s race to lose.
There shouldn’t be much debate about GRIND’s world’s first claim, as GRIND was also the world’s first to clear Arcadion Savage, which launched in patch 7.05. That race was also relatively short, concluding in roughly 10 hours.
It’ll be interesting to listen to feedback from the raiding community on the issue of this Ultimate, considering how much faster it was to clear in comparison with other Ultimates.
