If Mike Tyson and Jake Paul were cordial before, they aren’t anymore. After Tyson virally slapped Paul on the event weigh-ins on Thursday night, the latter admitted that the incident made the fight personal.

After the event, Tyson explained his decision to slap his opponent within the face roughly 24 hours before they were scheduled to get right into a ring and box.

“I used to be in my socks and he had on shoes,” Tyson said, via The Recent York Post. “He stepped on my toe because he’s a f****** a**hole. I desired to think it happened by accident. But now I believe it can have happened on purpose. I used to be in numerous pain. I needed to reciprocate.”

Immediately after the slap, Tyson was held back by on-stage security as Paul mocked him. The 2 weren’t allowed near one another again.

The exchange occurred during their final face-off to shut out the event. After Paul exclaimed to host Ariel Helwani that Tyson “must die” for slapping him, ‘Iron’ merely responded by saying that the “talking’s over.”

Tyson slapping Paul was the highlight of the ceremonial weigh-ins but didn’t change the proven fact that the event was made official on the scales. Each primary event fighters got here in at nearly the very same size. The ceremonial weigh-ins took place within the Toyota Music Factory, roughly 20 minutes away from the AT&T Stadium, where the fight card will start.

All seven fights of Netflix’s inaugural live boxing event were confirmed after the fighters all weighed in on point.
