2020 Olympic Cuban Andy Cruz hopes Keyshawn succeeds in his title challenge against WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk on February 14th. Cruz says he desires to take the WBO belt from Keyshawn (12-0, 8 KOs) if he wins it. Berinchyk vs. Keyshawn can be shown on ESPN and ESPN+. The event starts at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 PT.

Andy refers to Davis as “my son” as a result of his many victories over him. Nonetheless, he still wants him to defeat Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) next month. He says he’ll be watching the fight.

A History Of Domination

That will be Cruz’s fifth victory over Keyshawn. His record is an ideal 4-0, and he’s repeatedly called out the Top Rank-promoted Davis since he turned pro, but with no luck. Keyshawn doesn’t need to lose again, so he makes excuses.

Even when Davis defeats Berinchyk, he won’t defend the WBO title against Cruz. That’s the last person he would consider fighting because he knows what is going to occur in the event that they fight.

That will be like Keyshawn giving freely the WBO belt. He already said what he hopes to do if he gets his hands on the belt. Davis says he wants to make use of it to attempt to lure WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis right into a unification fight. That’s a pipe dream that has no likelihood of happening because Tank is specializing in fighting popular fighters.

Keyshawn’s Excuses For Not Fighting Andy Cruz

  • “He’s not ready yet. He doesn’t have a fan base. His entire fan base is built around me.”
  • “That man ain’t attempting to fight me. I’ll knock him out. He’s just not ready.”
  • “We already sent them a contract. I already got on live with Eddie Hearn and said to establish the fight. I don’t know what more y’all want me to do [to make the Andy Cruz fight].

I don’t understand how Keyshawn could say with a straight face that Cruz isn’t “ready” to fight him, when he beat him 4 times within the amateurs and has looked higher than him in the professionals. Davis has looked poor in his fights against Nahir Albright and Miguel Madueno. Those are the one two semi-good fighters Keyshawn has fought since he turned skilled. The remaining of them were scrubs.

“My Son”

“I consider my son has improved lots. I hope he wins the belt to see if I can take it from him for the fifth time,” said Andy Cruz to YSM Sports Media, reacting to Keyshawn David difficult WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk on February 14th.

“After all, I’ll watch that fight. What type of father is not going to watch their son?” said Cruz when asked if he’ll watch the Keyshawn vs. Berinchyk fight.
