Noni Madueke trolled Trevoh Chalobah after stealing a goal from his ‘unbelievable’ Chelsea teammate in Monday’s 3-1 victory over Wolves.
Chalobah was named within the Chelsea XI after being recalled from his loan at Crystal Palace and put in an aesthetic Man of the Match performance.
The 25-year-old centre-back must have scored Chelsea’s third goal nevertheless it was stolen by Madueke, who poked fun at Chalobah after the match.
‘It’s instinct,’ Chalobah told Sky Sports about his goal against Wolves. ‘Attacker’s instinct.
‘I said sorry to Trevoh after. I needed to put this in the online of course… An assist on his first game back is great for him! That’s my brother. He was telling me, ‘No way you took my goal, no way you took my goal!’
‘I told him, ‘Bro, come on, you might have to know that that is what they pay me to do!”
Former Chelsea star Emmanuel Petit, working as a football pundit for Sky Sports, said: ‘Strikers… it’s all about stats, and so they’re quite selfish. I’m glad for Madueke, he scored, fair enough, but I believe he must have let the ball go into the online.’
After teasing Chalobah, nevertheless, Madueke heaped praise on the defender as he added: ‘[He was] unbelievable.
‘Leadership, character, bravery on the ball. He slotted in seamlessly so I’m delighted for him.
‘It is not any coincidence with players like him and Reece [James] back in we won the sport.
‘They’re Chelsea through and thru and so they helped us tonight with their leadership of course.’
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca, quizzed for his own thoughts on Chalobah’s performance, said: ‘They did improbable, Tosin and Trev, all of them were good, including Kiernan [Dewsbury-Hall] too.
‘All of them had an extended time without playing a game for us and overall the performance was good.’
