And Just Like That and Sex and the City star Kristin Davis is greater than acquainted with the real-life rollercoaster ride of recent dating.
In the course of the Monday, January 20, episode of her podcast, “Are You a Charlotte?” Davis, 59, revealed that she once loaned an “out-of-work” actor $5,000 before he unexpectedly ghosted her.
Davis, who portrayed Charlotte York on the hit HBO series Sex and the City before reprising the role for the 2021 reboot, told podcast guest Sarah Wynter — who appeared within the SATC pilot — that the person’s response to her generous gesture shocked her.
She detailed how the person was an “out-of-work actor” she’d been seeing before starting on SATC, who’s now “very successful.” Davis had lent him “all of $5,000,” after spotting notices around his home that threatened to change off his electricity. She’d also learned he had “wrecked his motorcycle” so he was unable to attend auditions.
“He was very talented, but, on the time, I had money because I’d been working,” Davis explained. “It modified the dynamic in a horrible way … but I probably must have known higher. So I lent him this money after which, you already know, he stops calling. So I’m like, ‘What the heck?’”
Davis added that she confronted the person — which didn’t exactly help her situation.
“I remember going over to his apartment and banging on the door,” Davis said on the podcast. “And his dog was in there, and I loved his dog, and I could hear his dog. But I used to be like, ‘Is he in there and pretending that he will not be in there?’”
While Davis wasn’t greeted on the door, she later received a phone call from the person, who asked her if she had been the person banging on his door.
“I used to be like, ‘Well, yes,’” Davis said. “I felt so embarrassed, like I used to be being messy. I just would love some acknowledgment or whatever, which is form of a fantasy.”
While she didn’t reveal the identity of the person, Davis did offer some details into what he might be as much as lately. “He lives out within the country with some children, so I don’t think I need to indicate up there,” she quipped.
Reflecting on the ordeal further, Davis labelled her decision as a “horrible mistake” before urging her listeners to avoid repeating her actions. “Don’t do it,” Davis said. “It doesn’t end well.”
Davis’ Charlotte has famously experienced her own justifiable share of eventful dating scenarios throughout six seasons of SATC, before it evolved into two seasons of AJLT. (The third season of AJLT is predicted to premiere later this yr after it was renewed in August 2023, and Charlotte stays married to Harry Goldenblatt, played by Evan Handler.)
In real-life, Davis is single and a mother to 2 adopted children: daughter, Gemma Rose, whom she adopted in 2011, and son, Wilson, whom she adopted in 2018.
