Chappell Roan brought the 2025 Grammys crowd to the “Pink Pony Club.”
The 26-year-old, up for a complete of six awards on the ceremony including best latest artist and album of the yr, made her debut on the Grammys’ stage with Sunday night‘s performance.
Roan catapulted into megastardom last yr. Her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, made its Billboard 200 debut in April, months after its September 2023 release. The impressive feat proved to be only the start because the singer had several of her debut album’s songs chart on the Billboard 100 throughout 2024. “Pink Pony Club,” originally released in 2020, has spent 32 weeks on chart and currently sits at No. 46.
Olivia Rodrigo, who brought Roan out along with her as a supporting act on her recent tours, introduced her friend. “I grew up in southwest Missouri in a small town called Willard. I felt very isolated. It felt like I used to be never ok because I used to be gay. I feel my younger self really needed a woman like me to look as much as,” Roan said in a pre-taped video before her performance.
On theme with the night, Roan also noted her love of Los Angeles. “‘Pink Pony Club’ is my love letter to L.A.,” she said. “I like this city. L.A. gave me the courage to be myself because ultimately it’s where I feel essentially the most free.”
Roan, decked out in a flashy body suit and cowboy hat, sat atop a big pony in country-themed performance. The singer had a slew of background dancers with clown makeup and country outfits. The electrifying performance was an ideal example of why Roan has had the yr she had, bringing all the Grammys crowd to their feet and singing along to “Pink Pony Club.” The special moment will undoubtedly be a highlight of the evening.
While Roan’s 2025 Grammys performance marks the singer’s first on the music awards show, her Joan of Arc-themed performance of her chart-topping hit “Good Luck, Babe!” on the MTV Video Music Awards last yr was a crowd favorite.
The 2025 Grammys took over the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles for the Sunday night ceremony. Noah is hosting for the fifth consecutive time. Taylor Swift, Will Smith, Anthony Kiedis and Chad Smith, Cardi B, Gloria Estefan, Olivia Rodrigo, Queen Latifah, SZA and Victoria Monét are among the many presenters.
