Manchester United rejected a deadline day approach from Italian side Como for teenage talent Gabriele Biancheri.

The 18-year-old has been with the Red Devils since 2023 when he moved from Cardiff City and while he’s yet to make the step as much as the senior team, he has been scoring repeatedly at youth levle.

The striker has been capped at age group level by Wales, scoring a hat-trick for his country’s Under-19 side in November.

His progress has been noted by Como, who made a suggestion for Biancheri on deadline day, in response to Mail Plus.

Manchester United didn’t entertain the offer as they’re keen to maintain hold of the exciting talent, who doesn’t turn 19 until September.

The bidding club reportedly ‘raised eyebrows’ resulting from the very fact it got here from Italy and the young striker could still declare his international allegiance to that country.

Born in Cardiff, it won’t be of any surprise given his name that he’s of Italian descent and will still declare for Italy as he has only made youth level appearances for Wales.

Italian interest at club level is possibly a part of a ploy to encourage him to modify allegiance to Italy, although there isn’t a suggestion that he’s trying to accomplish that and Manchester United are planning to maintain hold of him.

The young prospect can also be eligible to play for England, so depending on how his development continues, there could possibly be a three-way tussle for his loyalty.

Biancheri is ready to stay within the United youth ranks for now while the likes of Dan Gore (Rotherham), Ethan Williams (Cheltenham) and Ethan Ennis (Doncaster) all moved out on loan throughout the transfer window.

Senior stars Marcus Rashford (Aston Villa) and Antony (Real Betis) have also left the Red Devils on loan deals, while Tyrell Malacia is anticipated to finish a short-term switch to PSV on Tuesday while the Dutch transfer window continues to be open.
