Travis Head, the dynamic batter, was awarded the Cricket Australia Men’s Player of the 12 months on February 3, Monday. After an impressive performance across all formats in 2024, Head was honored with the Allan Border Medal.
Head surpassed Australia captain Pat Cummins by greater than 60 votes. Under Cummins’ leadership, Australia triumphed over India within the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, winning the series for the primary time in ten years.
Head received the award remotely from Sri Lanka on Monday, where the Australian team is currently on a two-match series tour. Head earned 208 points from Cricket Australia members, 50 ahead of runner-up Josh Hazlewood, who received 158 votes.
Pat Cummins finished third with 147 votes, followed by Steve Smith (105) and Mitchell Starc (87), completing the highest five.

From January 10, 2024, Head became Australia’s top scorer with 1427 runs in 29 matches, almost doubling Steve Smith’s 806 runs from 21 games. He also outperformed Adam Zampa (50 wickets in 31 matches) and Pat Cummins (49 wickets in 18 games).
Head Starts 12 months with 119, Shines in White-Ball Tours
Head kicked off the yr with a knock of 119 against the West Indies in Adelaide. Because the yr progressed, his white-ball form continued to enhance, especially during Australia’s tours to Scotland and England following the T20 World Cup.

Reacting to the announcement from Sri Lanka, Head expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him under the leadership of Pat Cummins and the coaching of Andrew McDonald.
“Pretty hard to imagine. It’s been a superb yr. More than happy I’ve been in a position to slot in, do a job, and lucky I’ve been in a position to play all formats. It’s a pleasant accomplishment and I’ll enjoy it. I got omitted of the team in every format at some stage.”
