Tyrell Malacia has accomplished his loan move from Manchester United to PSV and says he’s ‘pleased to be here’ and ‘finally playing good football again.’

The 25-year-old has had an injury-hit time since arriving at Old Trafford from Feyenoord in 2022, making just 47 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils.

The Dutchman missed everything of the 2023/24 season with a serious knee issue, and while he has returned to motion this campaign, he’s clearly out of Ruben Amorim’s plans.

Diogo Dalot has been preferred at left wing-back, despite being out of position, and now Patrick Dorgu has been signed from Lecce as a specialist in that position.

Malacia has returned to the Eredivisie till the tip of the season and is delighted to be with the table-toppers PSV, making his feelings clear on his unveiling on Tuesday.

‘I’m pleased to be here. Finally playing good football again,’ Malacia told PSV club media. ‘I’m coming off an extended injury, but by now I’m fit and know that my time will come again.

‘In every tough period there are also positive elements and on this case that’s that I even have grow to be much stronger physically and mentally. I even have more patience, am more mature, know my body higher and things like that. I’m able to pop and hopefully win several prizes with PSV.’

Earnest Stewart, PSV’s Director of Football Affairs, added: ‘We’re very pleased to welcome with Tyrell a player who might be of immediate value for PSV 1.

‘Tyrell has quite a lot of experience at the very best level and can also be a player with quite a lot of potential. We sit up for seeing him in motion.’

Malacia has not arrived in time to play against his former club Feyenoord within the cup on Wednesday night, but might be involved against Willem II on Saturday.

The Red Devils talked up the success of Peter Bosz’s side this season of their confirmation of Malacia’s move.

A club statement read: ‘PSV, who play their home games at Philips Stadion, are currently top of the Dutch first division by a margin of two points.

‘Also they are preparing for a Champions League play-off against Juventus, after ending 14th within the competition’s latest league phase.

‘Notably, the PSV squad features former Premier League players Ivan Perisic and veteran striker Luuk de Jong.

‘Everybody at United wishes Tyrell well for the remaining of the season.’
