AEW’s Penelope Ford Details Rebounding After Her Miscarriage

It is simple to forget that Penelope Ford is not only an AEW original, but essentially a day one star for the promotion, appearing on the promotion’s rally in Jacksonville on January 8, 2019, only days after AEW’s formation was announced. A part of the rationale that is easy to forget is because Ford disappeared from AEW TV in late 2022, and can be gone for 2 years before returning this past October.

Appearing on “AEW Unrestricted,” Ford discussed her two-year hiatus, including her miscarriage that originally sidelined her. As Ford revealed though, that was just the start of her issues.

“I had my miscarriage in 2022, after which I needed to have surgery because I had a fibroid the scale of a cantaloupe,” Ford said. “So I used to be out for that. After which after I got here back, I feel Bunny got injured. After which, as soon as she got here back, I had gotten injured again. After which it was similar to backwards and forwards.”

Ford has yet to seek out sustained success since her return, though she has had impressive showings against Jamie Hayter and former rival Kris Statlander. She admitted that she feels stronger, each mentally and physically, than she did during her previous run, and now finds herself more focused on making things occur, and fewer nervous about things like her appearance.

“I’m just really determined in myself to be the very best,” Ford said. “And…, just manifesting and really betting on yourself. And I’m not nervous about being a twig or super skinny anymore. I’m like ‘I would like to be strong.’ I would like to lift people. I don’t need people to think I’m only a ragdoll. Like, I’m small, you may just throw me around. I’m not that.”
