The Hollywood Reporter broke the news of the music mogul’s death, though his reason behind death still stays unknown at the moment. TMZ later confirmed the story, sharing that Irv Gotti’s family revealed he passed away in Recent York City on Wednesday, Feb. 5.

Irv Gotti built a legacy profession in hip-hop over time. He produced ‘Can I Live’ on Jay-Z’s iconic ‘Reasonable Doubt’ album. During his time at Def Jam, he signed the late DMX and served as executive producer for the rapper’s debut album, ‘It’s Dark and Hell is Hot.’

Gotti later launched his own record label, Murder Inc., under Def Jam, kicking things off with Ja Rule’s debut album, ‘Venni Vetti Vecci.’
