Paris-based Haut et Court and London-based Good Chaos, two of the founding members of the Fremantle-backed indie production collective The Creatives, have secured the film rights to Paris-Hollywood, the debut novel by French film critic Cécile Mury.
The novel, set for publication by Flammarion in April 2025, follows a romance between a French journalist and an English-speaking movie star. The novel was presented ultimately 12 months’s Frankfurt Book Fair, where translation rights were sold in six territories. Haut et Court and Good Chaos outmaneuvered several French and European producers to secure the film adaptation rights. The businesses say the feature can be a rom-com that blends elements of each the French and English approaches to the genre.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have teamed up with Good Chaos to bring to the screen this delightful rom-com that plays a lot on the genre but with a ‘je ne sais quoi et presque rien,’” said Caroline Benjo, Co-CEO of Haut et Court. “We jumped on the rights as soon as we read the book.”

Mike Goodridge, CEO of Good Chaos, described the novel as “an enthralling and winning read” that “digs intelligently into the character of affection and the bounds we placed on ourselves before falling in love.”
Haut et Court is understood for producing international movies and TV series, including The Class (Palme d’Or, 2008) and The Lobster (Jury Prize, Cannes 2015). Upcoming projects include Sukkwan Island, set for Sundance 2025, and Dominik Moll’s Case 137.
Good Chaos, led by Goodridge, is in post-production on The Ballad of a Small Player, directed by Edward Berger and starring Colin Farrell and Tilda Swinton. Its previous projects include Triangle of Sadness (Palme d’Or, 2022) and Quo Vadis, Aida?
