JoAnna Garcia Swisher can totally relate to all of Us obsessing over the brand new season of her Netflix series, Sweet Magnolias.
“I feel like I can work Outlander into almost any conversation that I ever have had,” Swisher, 45, exclusively shares in the newest issue of Us Weekly. “But I actually have not finished it because I’m, like, pacing myself. I actually have a couple of episodes left of the series.”
Swisher is such a fan of the sci-fi romance — which aired its seventh season last month — that she’s constructed a technique to make sure the show lasts for her even after the eighth and final season wraps up sometime this 12 months.
“What I’ve done is I’ve began to return to season 1 and I’m rewatching season 1 and I’m gonna hold on to the previous couple of episodes of their last season up until the premiere of the prequel,” she explained. “So I don’t feel the sadness of loss.”
Outlander, which premiered on Starz in 2014, follows Claire (Caitriona Balfe), a World War II nurse who travels back in time to 18th century Scotland and meets her true love, Jamie (Sam Heughan). Their epic love story is anything but boring, spanning across multiple a long time, continents and wars.
A precise premiere date for the ultimate season has yet to be announced, however the show’s prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, debuts this 12 months and can follow the romances between Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy).

While it looks like Swisher may have loads of Outlander content to queue up, the remaining of Us are reeling over season 4 of Sweet Magnolias, which premiered on February 6 and quickly shot as much as No. 1 on Netflix’s Top TV Shows within the U.S. While a fifth season has yet to be confirmed (fingers crossed!), Swisher is just grateful fans are having as much fun watching the show as she does making it.
“I feel [this is] my favorite season, so it’s been so nice to listen to folks that have seen it react that way,” she tells Us. “Inevitably there’s so many nerves that occur while you’re so pleased with something and you then get right down to the wire and also you’re like, ‘Wait, I hope people prefer it!’ So it makes me feel really good.”

‘Back in Motion’

“My girlfriend Cameron Diaz just got here out with a brand new movie, Back in Motion with Jamie Foxx, and I just am in awe of her just generally, however the incontrovertible fact that she just can kick ass and be so cool and lovely and do it on her own terms, it’s so amazing and it’s only a fun watch,” Swisher tells Us, noting that Diaz, 52, is “meant” to be a movie star.
“I do know that she’s got a variety of other things [going on],” she clarifies. “But I’m like, ‘The people have spoken!’”
‘The Three Lives of Cate Kay’
Swisher says her lifestyle digital and social media platform, The Comfortable Place, is currently featuring Kate Fagan’s latest novel, which is “so good.” (The story follows a lady who creates a fictional persona named Cate Kay to cover her true identity after an incident in her hometown.)
“You would crack open this person’s brain and look inside and I like that. Experiencing some traumatic things and the way she reacted to it and the way she channeled it, it’s kind of like, ‘OK, this happened and I took a tough right turn after which this happened and I took a tough left turn,’” Swisher says. “But then there’s this mystery surrounding who she is and there’s books and movie stars. … It’s just, like, really cool. And there’s really great romance in it too.”

JoAnna and her two daughters — Emerson Jay, 11, and Sailor Stevie, 8, whom she shares with husband Nick Swisher — currently can’t get enough of the country star’s tunes.
“My kids and me are only uncontrolled,” she tells Us, sharing her plans to attend Ballerini’s Patterns tour. “She’s coming to Tampa, we’re going to the show. We’re doing an enormous girls night. I’m taking my girlfriends and my and their daughters and we’re going to live it up. I like her a lot. She is what I’m blasting at once.”
A Holy Trinity of TV

Along with her Outlander obsession, Swisher has a pair other TV shows on the docket. “I like Lioness,” she tells Us. “That’s such an excellent show and I just finished the second season. … I’m about to start out Landman, also.”
