Curtis Jones is offered for Liverpool’s Premier League trip to Aston Villa on Wednesday night after serving a one-match suspension.

Jones, who was slapped with a red card within the 2-2 Merseyside derby draw against Everton last week, is more likely to be named in Liverpool’s line-up at Villa Park after missing the 2-1 victory over Wolves on Sunday.

The Reds are aiming to increase their lead at the highest of the Premier League table within the clash against Unai Emery’s side, which is live to tell the tale TNT Sports 2.

Liverpool are currently seven points clear of second-placed Arsenal within the top-flight title race, with each side having played 25 matches up to now.

In other teams news, Liverpool will again be without injured duo Cody Gakpo and Joe Gomez against ninth-placed Aston Villa.

Gakpo picked up a knock against Everton – with the Dutchman set to get replaced in Liverpool’s XI by Diogo Jota or Darwin Nunez – while Gomez suffered a hamstring injury within the recent 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Plymouth.

‘Joe will take quite a while,’ Liverpool head coach Arne Slot said about Gomez. ‘He’s going to be out for numerous weeks due to a hamstring injury.

‘It’s a giant blow for Joe and for us. He tries to do every part to be with the team.

‘He works really hard to come back back after which the primary game when he got here back after two or three minutes we saw him making a sprint and now he’s out for weeks again.’

Aston Villa head into the match against Liverpool in poor form, having didn’t record a victory across their last 4 Premier League games.

Villa are coping with numerous injury problems, with Emery confirming that while some are near a return, their involvement against Liverpool on Wednesday stays uncertain.

‘[Boubacar] Kamara is out, [Leon] Bailey is near being with us again,’ Emery said in his pre-match press conference.

‘I don’t know tomorrow, he’s a doubt. [Matty] Money as well is near being with us, [Ezri] Konsa as well is near being with us.’

Marcus Rashford, who joined Villa on loan from Manchester United within the January transfer window, looks set to begin the clash with Liverpool.
