Arsenal and Man Utd hero Robin van Persie set for Champions League job

Former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie is about to be unveiled as Feyenoord’s recent manager, in response to reports.

The 41-year-old is currently answerable for Heerenveen, his first job in management, signing a two-year contract in May 2024.

Under the Dutchman’s management Heerenveen are currently eighth within the Eredivisie, battling to complete within the European places.

They give the impression of being set to proceed that battle without their current boss, though, with ESPN reporting that Van Persie is resulting from take the step as much as Feyenoord.

The announcement is anticipated in the approaching days, with Van Persie to be unveiled early next week.

Arne Slot left Feyenoord for Liverpool at the tip of last season and was replaced by Brian Priske, who signed a three-year deal.

With Bosschaart in charge, Feyenoord have pulled off a powerful upset within the Champions League, knocking AC Milan out within the play-off stage to book their spot in Friday’s last 16 draw.

The club’s league form has not been great, by their very own high standards, currently fourth within the Eredivisie, 14 points behind league-leaders Ajax.

It would be an emotional return to the club for Van Persie, who spent two spells at De Kuip as a player.

The long-lasting striker joined the youth ranks of Feyenoord in 1999 and made his skilled debut for them at just 17 years old.

After scoring 21 goals for the club he was snapped up by Arsenal and went on to spend eight seasons with the Gunners.
