Pop music superstar Katy Perry has been slammed by the family of 85-year-old veteran Carl Westcott for her “unforgivable” actions.
In 2020, Westcott agreed to sell his Montecito home to the singer for $15 million. Nevertheless, days later, he sought to rescind the sale, citing impaired judgment because of medication.
Unfortunately for him, in 2023, a judge ruled in Perry’s favor, finalizing the sale in May 2024.
Katy Perry is now suing Carl Westcott for $6 million in damages and back rent, a move the veteran’s family condemned as “greedy.”

In an interview with The U.S. Sun, Westcott’s son, 39-year-old Chart, who’s presently in Puerto Rico, expressed shock over Perry’s multi-million-dollar damages lawsuit against his father.
He criticized the singer’s actions, saying, “If an old man apologizes and says he made a mistake [about the house sale], and he or she’s a wealthy pop star who should buy some other house on the earth, you’d think she would let the old man go on his way.”
Chart described Perry’s behavior as “entitled celebrity behavior,” adding that “she has no sense of fair play, no empathy, zero empathy, quite the alternative.”
“The more severe the condition my father is in, the harsher they have been within the trial; it’s unlucky to see the way in which her lawyers have conducted themselves, the underside of the barrel when it comes to ethics,” he claimed.

Expressing his frustrations, Chart described Perry’s actions as driven by “greed,” stating, “That is such a small deal to be fearful about – I feel its a matter of privilege – her lawyers and her business manager are coping with it. The last hearing we had, the judge has said she must testify.”

The Veteran’s Family Condemns Katy Perry And Orlando Bloom’s ‘Unforgivable’ Actions
When questioned about any message for Perry and Bloom, Chart paused before responding, “It is a hard query because I do not feel like anyone is listening – they sold their souls way back… they selected. It’s unforgivable how they’ve conducted their affairs.”
He added: “However it’s how the Hollywood elite system works – I’ve seen this up close – they treat bizarre people like dirt, it has been a difficult time for the family.”
“Everyone knows Dad is bedridden – and he has survived longer than we ever expected, it is a miracle he’s still alive. Dad has not talked about this damages case,” Chart continued.

He concluded: “We’re inherently very reasonable people, and we’re eager about an inexpensive final result for all involved, it’s unlucky that Katy and Orlando have been unreasonable from the beginning.”

Katy Perry’s Montecito Mansion Dispute With Carl Wescott
Perry and her husband, actor Orlando Bloom, won their legal battle against the elderly military veteran, who accused them of exploiting his condition to buy his Southern California mansion.
In 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Perry’s business manager, Bernie Gudvi, finalized a $14.2 million deal for the 8.9-acre Montecito estate.
Initially agreeing to the sale, Westcott, who has Huntington’s disease, a degenerative brain disorder that worsens over time and is usually fatal inside twenty years, attempted to withdraw from the sale of his home, arguing that his health issues left him unable to make sound financial decisions.
This ultimately led to his bitter legal battle with the “I Kissed A Girl” singer.
In 2023, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Joseph Lipner ruled that Westcott lacked sufficient evidence to contest the sale, affirming Perry’s ownership. The keys were officially handed over in March 2024.

Katy Perry Ordered To Testify In $6M Lawsuit Against Ailing Veteran
Following the victory, Perry, through her business manager Gudvi, launched a $6 million claim against Westcott for back rent and alleged property damages.
Last week, a judge ordered Perry to testify within the Los Angeles civil court regarding her claim.
Westcott’s legal team has also filed a subpoena motion requesting Bloom’s testimony as a key witness, based on a spokesperson for the 85-year-old.
Katy Perry’s Manager Is Accusing The Veteran Of ‘Harassing’ The Singer’s Husband
Perry’s manager, Gudvi, opposes the motion regarding testimony from the singer’s husband, accusing Westcott of “harassing Bloom.”
“The aim of Carl Westcott’s subpoena is to harass Orlando Bloom in order to further sensationalize and switch the narrow scope of this remedies phase of the trial right into a media circus,” Gudvi said, per The U.S. Sun.
Amid the heated legal battle, Westcott’s son, Chart, has stated that his father’s condition is “horrible” and that he’s in hospice.
He told the news outlet that his father has been bedridden for over 18 months, explaining that “his activity level could be very low, he isn’t awake fairly often, he’s very foggy – and still recognizes us, however the decline is just consistent, and really painful for our family to observe.”
