The US secured a 3-1 win over Canada within the group stage last Saturday in Montreal. The winner of tonight’s final will take home the first-ever NHL 4 Nations Face-Off Trophy.
Ahead of the sport, President Donald Trump announced plans to call the U.S. men’s national ice hockey team, while also proposing the thought of merging Canada with the USA.
“I’ll be calling our GREAT American Hockey Team this morning to spur them on towards victory tonight against Canada, which with FAR LOWER TAXES AND MUCH STRONGER SECURITY, will someday, possibly soon, turn into our cherished, and really vital, Fifty First State,” he posted to Truth Social.
While Team USA invited Trump to attend the sport, he declined resulting from a previous engagement chatting with Republican governors in Washington. “But we are going to all be watching, and if Governor Trudeau would really like to affix us, he can be most welcome,” he added, making one other reference to his proposal.
