A person who was robbed has made a relatively unusual proposition to the thieves who targeted him.

The victim, identified in police documents as Jean-David E, had his bag stolen from his automotive parked in Toulouse, France, on February 3, after leaving the window barely open.

The bag included his wallet and bank cards in addition to other documents.

When Jean-David asked his bank to dam the cardboard, he found it had already been utilized in an area shop, not removed from where his automotive was parked.

Two men used his card to purchase 52.50Euro (£43.50) value of products, including a winning scratch card.

But after they won an enormous 500,000Euro (£414,000) on the scratch card, they were apparently so completely satisfied with the win that they left their cigarettes and other belongings behind, the shopkeeper said.

Jean-David has filed a police criticism, but has now said he’ll withdraw it if the thieves come forward in order that they can split the winnings.

‘It’s an incredible story, but it surely’s all true,’ Pierre Debuisson, Jean-David’s lawyer, said.

Appealing on to the thieves, he said: ‘You risk nothing. We’ll share with you. And you’ll give you the chance to vary your lives.

‘Time is working against us,’ Pierre added, explaining that the winning ticket will eventually expire.

The thieves are currently vulnerable to arrest, and as of Saturday, lottery operator La Francaise des Jeux said no one had tried to money out the winning ticket.

The winning scratch card has been frozen by the lottery operator while the police investigation continues.

Pierre also said that without making a cope with the thieves, prosecutors could attempt to seize the winnings as they might consider the money to have been illegally obtained.

He told local newspaper La Dépêche: ‘It’s out of the query they [the lottery provider] cancel it since it was bought with a stolen card.

‘Those in possession of it don’t must worry: our proposal is straightforward, without my client’s money they wouldn’t have won, without them my client wouldn’t have won. It’s only logical to share it.’
