Mumbai’s Andheri Magistrate Court has dismissed actress Tanushree Dutta’s FIR against actor Nana Patekar. The case, filed at Oshiwara police station on October 10, 2018, was related to an alleged sexual harassment incident from March 23, 2008.

The court ruled that the case was time-barred under the Limitation Act. The police had earlier submitted a ‘B summary report’ citing lack of evidence.
Tanushree didn’t seek condonation for the delay in filing, and the court found no sufficient grounds to proceed. Over 100 people were reportedly present on set in the course of the alleged incident, but no strong evidence supported her claims.
Advocate Padma Shelatkar stated, “My clients failed to grasp the explanation for coming up with these false allegations. With a big fan following built through labor and dedication, they consider the accusations were made solely to tarnish their fame with an ulterior motive.”
She added, “Nevertheless, some individuals misuse the law to focus on respected names within the industry, which is unfair and unethical, impacting the careers of veterans. My clients have endured significant hardship over the past seven years, facing immense stress and trauma, which I even have personally witnessed.”
“Today, the Hon’ble Andheri Magistrate Court dismissed the complainant’s case. This case serves as a reminder for individuals who could also be unfairly targeted with ulterior motives under the guise of the #MeToo movement. We had faith in law and order, judiciary and we’re delighted with the final result of the case today,” she concluded.
